Environmental issue

Today, with the development of modern science and technology, we enjoy the convenience that it has brought to our lives. In my opinion, there are three main reasons for the current environmental problems. The first point is that air pollution is in all countries. Second, the garbage produced by humans is growing at a rate that is visible to the naked eye. As a result, the rate of garbage generation exceeds the rate of destruction and degradation. The third point is also the most serious reason which is people’s awareness of protecting the environment is reduced.

At present, the problem of air pollution is the most serious, and it can directly affect people’s health and life. Now some governments are thinking about the improvement of the national economy and technology, but they ignore the fact that these are the result of environmental damage, but they do not know that the so-called economy and technology acquired cannot make up for the environment pollution. Nowadays, with the advancement of society, factories and people also produce a lot of industrial waste and domestic garbage. The World Bank says that with urbanization and population growth, global waste could grow by 70% by 2050, with the largest increase in waste in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. (Reuters, 2018). Moreover, domestic garbage is also caused by people’s unawareness of protecting the environment. People do not care about their own behaviour. They think that these small things will not cause great harm to the environment. In fact, it is a huge mis-conception.

The main cause for air pollution is that today’s society is thinking about technological and economic progress, ignoring the environmental damage caused by the emissions from factories and living. It can be seen from people’s lives that a large amount of pollution and automobile exhaust gases are generated every day because of the vehicles. Many countries now are focusing on the development of heavy industry, and the factory also produces a large amount of waste gas, wastewater to destroy water resources. These are all caused by people’s waste and carelessness. It is also because of the decline in people’s awareness of environmental protection.

Environmental issues have a huge impact on the entire planet. The most direct effect is human life and physical health. In fact, according to air pollution, both smoke and soot are the most common types of air pollution. When emissions from burning fossil fuels react with sunlight, smoke is called “ground ozone”. (Walker, 2016)Air pollution can irritate the eyes and throat, as well as the lungs – especially those who work or exercise outside, the children and the elderly. Even worse for people with asthma or allergies – these extra contaminants only exacerbate their symptoms and trigger asthma attacks, occurring in any country. Nowadays, most of the social waste disposal uses combustion, and at the same time, it also produces a lot of carbon dioxide and some waste gas, thus accelerating the damage to the environment. It is time to reduce the amount of plastics and disposables in human life, which can reduce many unnecessary domestic waste. The decline in human environmental awareness has a direct impact on environmental damage, when people have lost environmental awareness.

For the current environment, we face many environmental threats. Solving these problems is not an easy task. We need to work hard and change them slowly. For air pollution, not only do we need to take action, but the government needs to change its focus on economic development and needs to turn to the level of environmental protection. The government must strictly control the waste discharge of large factories and severely investigate and deal with factories that illegally discharge pollutants. At the same time, it can also effectively reduce the production of large amounts of industrial waste. In life, people need to save on the use of goods and use recycled products to protect the environment. I hope that the government will not only do environmental propaganda, but also do some substantive things for people’s lives. For example by enacting laws that restrict people’s behaviour from environmental damage can also raise awareness and focus on protecting the environment.

Environmental pollution is one of the most important issues in society. Instead, governments have not paid too much attention to it. News advertising is just a publicity to protect the environment and people just know it but have not made any action to change.
