2.6.1 Pastoral care and its importance

Welcome to chapter 6 of the 'Policies, pastoral care and practical applications' module. We will now move away from discussing specific policies and focus on the broader construct of pastoral care. The previous chapters discussed the policies and laws in place to keep learners safe; pastoral care also supports this, but can deal with issues not necessarily encompassed in the individual policies. Pastoral care is a broad field, but its overarching aim is to support and promote student wellbeing by offering help with any issues they may be encountering, either within the school or outside of it.
